Chambered in 9×19mm, the system utilizes the classic roller-delayed blowback operating system, renowned for smooth recoil impulse, reliable cycling, and excellent control compared to conventional straight-blowback pistol caliber carbines. The A2 configuration features the classic fixed buttstock, providing enhanced stability and consistent shoulder support during rapid or precision fire.

The rifle incorporates a cold hammer-forged steel barrel, stamped steel receiver construction, and traditional MP5-pattern diopter drum sights for robust durability and precise sighting. The platform accepts standard MP5-pattern magazines and retains the proven ergonomics of the original design, including ambidextrous-style selector configurations (variant dependent), paddle magazine release, and non-reciprocating charging handle.
